Little River Bed & Breakfast is committed to continually improving our operations to utilize more environmentally sensitive methods of providing the best service to our guests. From energy conservation to recycling, and everywhere in between, we believe that everything we do to protect the environment, no matter how small, will protect our neighborhood, town, state, and country for future generations.

Environmental Policies

Little River Bed & Breakfast is committed to providing hospitality for our guests in an environmentally responsible manner. Our goal is the wise use of resources with the conservation of energy, water, and other natural resources, as well as the reduction of wastes and a commitment to recycling.

Key points include the following objectives:

  • Provide a safe and healthful environment for guests while minimizing our impact on the environment.
  • Conserve natural resources by reusing and recycling materials, purchasing recycled materials, and using recyclable materials as much as possible.
  • Actively promote recycling at our property and in the community.
  • Reduce landfill materials by composting organic waste such as kitchen scraps and yard trimmings.
  • Use nontoxic products whenever possible.
  • Use water efficient appliances and fixtures.
  • Use energy-efficient lighting, appliances, and technology.
  • Purchase Energy Star appliances when purchasing new or replacement equipment.
  • Landscape using native plants to reduce the need for water consumption and pesticide use.
  • Purchase regionally grown foods and products as much as possible.
  • Communicate and reinforce our environmental values with our guests and with the community.
  • Ensure the responsible use of energy throughout our business, including conserving energy, improving energy efficiency, and giving preference to renewable over non-renewable energy sources when feasible.
  • Minimize waste by evaluating purchases and procedures.
  • Conduct self-assessments to measure progress.
  • Strive to continually reduce our environmental impact.
  • Be an environmentally responsible member of our community.
  • Participate in local initiatives to improve the quality of the environment.

This policy shall be implemented by the innkeepers and all others who may work for Little River Bed & Breakfast.
